The Human Vitamin D Receptor Receptor Assay System products utilize non-human mammalian cells engineered to provide constitutive, high-level expression of Human Vitamin D Receptor (NR1I1), a ligand-dependent transcription factor commonly referred to a VDR. Because these cells incorporate a VCR-responsive luciferase reporter gene, quantifying expressed luciferase active provides a sensitive surrogate measure of VDR activity in the treated cells. The primary application of this reporter assay system is in the screening of rest samples to quantify any functional activity, either agonist or antagonist, that they may exert against human VDR.
