C-reactive protein is an important acute phase protein.  Elevated levels of CRP are associated with higher risks of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.  PPAR α and γ agonists such as the fibrates and thiazolidinediones decrease levels of CRP.  We offer a CRP promoter reporter gene assay for studies of this protein.
